I enjoyed Weyward! Also recommend Lady Tan's Circle of Women by Lisa See - historical fiction inspired by and based on one of the only medical case histories published by a woman Chinese Doctor in the Ming Dynasty. Also - I love weird, what is the particular flavor of weird in Independent People?
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll hit up the library! So, it's weird as in it's about this guy who is a sheep farmer on a croft in Iceland around WWI and he's obsessed with the idea of being, in the spirit of his countrymen, independent to the point of stupidity. But there are many pages of like talk about sheep illnesses that I think wouldn't appeal to everyone! But also it's a real soap opera page turner and it's funny! If you check it out, I'd love to know what you think!
Hey! Quinn and I are also fans of Independent People by Halldor Laxness. So much so that Q wanted to name our daughter Sollilja after Bjartur's daughter, Asta Sollilja. (And assuming of course that we had a girl).
No way!! That's amazing! We have to get coffee and talk about Laxness. I talked of nothing else after I read Independent People. Ask Ryan! I was obsessed.
